Six Chadron High School wrestlers are packing their bags for Omaha after qualifying for the state tournament during Saturday’s district tournament in Cozad.
Cooper Cogdill led the way for the Cardinals, winning a 3-0 decision over a Lexington wrestler to win the district championship in the 195 pound weight class. Daniel Goings, Tate Cullers and Willy Cogdill each finished second in their classes. Tanner Kickland finished third and Joe Ritzen placed fourth. The top four finishers at each wight qualify for state.
In Class C, Gordon-Rushville will have four representatives at state. Ken Graham took the district title at 170 lbs. Garret Shadbolt, Cole Witt and Casey Glassgow were each second place finishers.
Hay Springs has four qualifiers in Class D. Steven Horrocks was the 220 lbs. district champion after placing third at state in 2013 and Levi Ray was the 126 pound champion. Chris Ray and Joey Johnson each placed second.
Two of the three Crawford wrestlers who went to districts qualified for state. Taylor Alcorn was pinned by Horrocks in the 220 final to place second. Kain Forbes was fourth at 285 lbs.
