(AP) – It’s a really big fish story. A northern Ohio teenager caught a 3-foot carp — but it wasn’t with a rod and reel. Sixteen-year-old Jake Sawyer spotted the fish swimming in receding floodwaters on his street. He scooped it up in his arms while his mom recorded the whole thing on video.
Jake tells the AP he slowly put his hand on the fish. Once the fish got comfortable with him, Jake says he gave it kind of a bear-hug and picked it up. He suspects the carp came from a nearby pond and Jake returned it there. He says he didn’t want it to die in the street.
